WISHING WELL BLOG

One by One
Principal photography has just about wrapped for Out of the Wishing Well. I'll say "done" for now with a chance for some pick up shots or some small ideas that come along during the editing process. Speaking of editing.... editing has started! I wish I could say editing was the last thing needing to be done... but there's also visual effects, color grading, sound/score and bunch of other little things. But getting to the editing process of my 2026 Foo Fighters Documentary

Almost done shooting!
Principal photography is close to being done! It's been a tiring few weeks balancing a day job with doing a small Foo Fighters documentary (hopefully coming in early 2026). The goal is to meet with my editor in a few weeks and start the editing process. I've been talking to a few different people interested in scoring it for me. Plus there's visual effects to be done as well. But luckily the most stressful part is just about done. It's been a rewarding adventure for sur

First Day of Shooting Wrapped!
A few weeks ago, Sean and I completed our first day of shooting! It's been a long road finally getting to this point - but it feels great to get this off the ground. I worked in the Visual Effects industry for roughly a decade. I worked on a lot of big movies that I am proud of. However, this is my first time ever creating any sort of "film" from start to finish. It's definitely been eye opening! I've always wanted to do this - so here we are. "Rock Out! Do it Quick!"

It's Getting Real!
Needed equipment en route. Locations secured. Script just about nailed down. Props finished. Shooting schedule developing. Other parts are falling into place as well. Who knew being a Foo Fighters fan could make you stressed! Ha! I am both excited and nervous. I didn't think the day would come where I'd actually get something like this off the ground. I truly am happy that I got this documentary going. Happy to be even just a tiny spec - borderline invisible - in the

Still Here. Still Grinding. Still Grateful.
Creating a documentary is a journey. And when you're doing it solo—on a tight budget—it can feel like climbing a mountain barefoot (or stepping on your kids legos). But here's the good news: I'm still here . Still working, still refining, and more fired up than ever about what’s taking shape! I just had a great phone call with my cinematographer. We are fired up and going to make this happen! (Also helps my cinematographer is one of my best friends!) Out of the Wishing Wel

Coffee, Cardboard & Chaos: Props for My Foo Fighters Documentary
Have you ever stared at a cardboard box at 5:30 a.m. and thought, “Yeah, this is gonna be a Grammy-winning prop”? No? Just me? Welcome to the very early mornings of working on my documentary, where the coffee is strong, the glue guns are hot, and I’m still wondering how I got myself into this glorious chaos. Let’s rewind a bit. I’m currently in pre-production for Out of the Wishing Well, a wild, heartfelt, slightly chaotic documentary about my adventures with Dave Grohl and

From Blockbusters to Backstages: My Stories with the Foo Fighters - By a Visual Effects Artist Turned Filmmaker
For years, I worked behind the scenes in Hollywood—crafting the impossible with pixels, explosions, and digital wizardry. As a visual effects artist on major feature films, I helped bring epic battles and fantastical worlds to life. But there was always one dream I hadn’t touched: creating my own film or documentary. Not just any film, but one that blended my passion for storytelling with music. That dream? A documentary about my real-life adventures with Dave Grohl and the F

Inspired by Seattle - 90's Grunge Forever!
Finding inspiration is always important when embarking on a big creative project. Especially a project that involves months of planning and preparation. I'm a big Alice in Chains / Jerry Cantrell fan, and when Jerry announced his solo tour to support his new album "I Want Blood" - I knew I had to go! A few years ago he toured through my hometown and I didn't go! I've regretted it since! This time, he skipped my hometown! Not wanting to miss my chance, I booked a trip out

Much progress has been made to my Foo Fighter documentary
The script is in its final form. Storyboards have been made. Numerous to-do items have been finished or are in progress. Bottom line - This is really happening! The plan is to start shooting at the end of April 2025. Coming from a background/career in Visual Effects - its always been a goal of mine to write, produce and direct something of my own. It's taken close to 20 years to get to this point. Might as well be about Dave Grohl! But hey, I'm here and it's happening!

First production meeting! Foo Fighters Documentary here we come!
Sean and I have been close friends for probably 15 years or more. We both come from the visual effects industry. So, it wasn't hard knowing who to ask to be my cinematographer for my documentary about my memories with the Foo Fighters. Sean and I share a similar taste in music - so that always helps! We talked lighting styles, tech stuff and bounced ideas off each other. It's crazy to think I've been working on this since August 2024. It is really starting to take shape!

And so it begins! The Storyteller by Dave Grohl
While in Europe I had Dave Grohl's book The Storyteller with me. With all the lengthy travel I found myself with more free time than I had originally planned. Once I started the book - I couldn't put it down. For years, I had been wanting to make a documentary based on some of the fun memories from my youth chasing the Foo Fighters around the United States. Once I finished the book, I was able to draw a lot of parallels to my own life. I had the inspiration. I had the m
