Is there a new Foo Fighters documentary?
Yes. Out of the Wishing Well is a 17-minute documentary started in 2024 by Denver CO filmmaker Josh Shuman. It follows his connection to the Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl, from his first concert in 1996 to moments nearly 30 years later.

Where can I watch the finished documentary?
When released in January of 2027, Out of the Wishing Well will be free to watch on YouTube. If you happen to live in Denver, CO I would love to see you attend the premier screening January 17th, 2027, at the SIE Film Center in Denver. Contact me for more details.

Is Out of the Wishing Well an official Foo Fighters film?
No. It’s an independent, fan-made documentary about some stories I had with the Foo Fighters with the emphasis on how music sparks memories and brings people together. The film is very much inspired by Dave Grohl’s book The Storyteller.

Does the band know about it? Have you been contacted?
As of November 2026 the band does not know about my project (to my knowledge). I haven’t been contacted by anyone either. However, I want to make it very clear. I am not doing this in hopes of hanging out with the band and doing shots of Jager backstage. Would that be cool? YES. Absolutely. I’d be on the next plane in a heartbeat if I were to get a phone call. But that is NOT why I am doing this. It’s a love letter to my past and memories that have made me who I am today as well as a thank you to the band and Dave Grohl for being such a big part of my life. I’m also dedicating it to my mother who lost her battle with cancer in 2023. She was a mom, a high school teacher and big supporter of my love of music.

Will there be a public screening of your documentary?
Yes. There will be a screening at the SIE Film Center on January 17, 2027. Doors open at 3pm. Screening will start at 3:30pm. I will post information on how to get a ticket as soon as they go on sale.

What inspired you to do this?
I worked in the film industry as a visual effects artist for roughly 10 years. I have over 30 film and TV credits to my name. But that is as far as my career went in Hollywood. However, its always been a goal of mine to produce, direct and write a film from start to finish. This Foo Fighters documentary has been at the top of my list for over 25 years. Dave Grohl has directed before…figured I might as well too!

Yes! I’d love that! I love hearing music stories! I’d also love to hear from you if you watched the documentary. The support I’ve gotten over the past 2+ years for my little indie film has been amazing.
